Class Assignment

My class assignment was to to list four blogs created by teachers that convey ideas of classroom arrangement, structure, activities, and organization.   Two of the websites had to be by a pre-k teacher and the other two had to be written by a k- 3rd teacher.

Pre-kindergarten Blogs:

  1. The Helpful Garden (http://thehelpfulgarden.blogspot.com/- Cathie Matthews uses this blog to share the lessons that she has made for her class.  Cathie is a primary Montessori teacher with a flair for making lessons that she shares with other Montessori teachers and parents.  She also shares information on how to keep your classroom organized, which is essential in the Montessori classroom.
  2. To the Lesson (http://tothelesson.blogspot.com/)-  Sasha uses her blog to write about maintaining and teaching at a Montessori school.  Her blog offers advice on every area of the classroom.  She also shares how she organizes items around the house and at school.  There is an area on the site which has free downloads, which is very important to Montessori teachers.
Kindergarten Blogs:

  1. Mrs. Davison's Kindergarten (http://davisonkindergarten.blogspot.com/)- Mrs. Davison shares refreshing ideas on how to use technology in the kindergarten classroom.  She uses her SmartBoard and iPads to safely introduce her students to blogging, Twitter, and Skype to help them share their work from reading and writing workshop.  I love how she integrates technology into her curriculum so that her students are more prepared for the technology that surrounds them in our society.
  2. Living Montessori Now (http://livingmontessorinow.com/)- The author of this website is a former Montessori teacher and school owner.  Under the tab "about Montessori" she has information about the Montessori techniques and offers videos with mini-lessons using some of the materials.  It really helps those who are unfamiliar with Montessori to have a better understanding of the philosophy and curriculum.  There is also a tab labelled "activities" that offers suggestions for activities for every area of the classroom.
